My initial plan for my hubby birthday cake was a fresh fruit cake. Again i will read through all source of recipe from my recipe book, internet and youtube tutorial. During my practice, Father's is coming.. Then i practice the fruit cake for Father's Cake...

So... after this experience, I am trying for my Red Velvet cake for my hubby's birthday

Red Velvet Cake:

250 grams sifted cake flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Cocoa powder
113 grams unsaltedbutter, at room temperature
300 grams granulated white sugar ( i would suggest to reduce the amount)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanillaextract
240 ml buttermilk
2 tablespoons liquid red food coloring
1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
1 teaspoon baking soda

  1. Preheat the oven for 175 degree C and grease 2 Pan for size 8 inch round
  2. Sift the cake flour, salt and cocoa powder; and set aside.
  3. Beat the butter until soft and light (1-2 minutes). After that, add in sugar (2 - 3 minutes).
  4. Add in the egg in by one .
  5. Scrape down the side, add in vanilla extract and beat well.
  6. A measuring cup whisk the buttermilk with the red food coloring. With the mixer on low speed, alternately add the flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture, in three additions, beginning and ending with the flour.
  7. In a small cup combine the vinegar and baking soda. Allow the mixture to fizz and then quickly fold into the cake batter.
  8. Pour the batter quickly to the pan, divide evenly to 2 pans.
  9. Baked for 30 mins.
  10. After baked, remove from the pan and let it cool. You may keep into fridge for overnight. After than u can to coating.
